This week was all about Church Membership. So, when we're choosing songs for the church to sing, there's not many songs specifically about membership. However, one of the key elements of membership involves a call to holiness.

Membership is a way of preserving the 'purity' of the church (i.e. the members of the church are truly Christians). And being a member means that we are committed to help one another pursue holiness - just like the writer of Hebrews urges us to in 10:24-25 "let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another"

Here's the songs we sang:

Praise The Lord - Doug Plank, Sovereign Grace Music (FREE mp3 at time of posting this blog!!)

Thank You For The Cross - Brenton Brown

Bible Reading: 1 Peter 1:13-16

Holy Holy Holy, Lord God Almighty - Words: Reginald Heber (1783-1826); Music: John Bacchus Dykes (1823-1876)

Announcements (we specifically looked at different ways we as a church are helping one another to grow in holiness. The programs of our church (e.g. ladies Bible study, men's ministry etc.) are merely the framework within which spiritual growth and maturity can happen.

By This We Know Love - Judah Groveman, Sovereign Grace Music

When I Survey (The Wonderful Cross) - Words: Isaac Watts (1674-1748) Music: J.D. Walt; Chorus by Chris Tomlin

Sermon: Church Membership - Mack Stiles

We Cannot Boast - Glen Jones (mp3) (chords) (leadsheet)

Never Alone - Simone Richardson & Philip Percival (Emu Music)
